The grout crew sealed a heavily infiltrating hole in a high flow sanitary line in Port Coquitlam early in the AM, March 25th. Because of the heavy flows the crew went out on graveyard shift, and with a little perseverance and by using a combination of manhole and mainline grouting techniques, they were able to stop the infiltration completely. Great work guys!
Mar-Tech was recently hired to remove the intruding portion of a live 4″ ductile iron service lateral. The service intruded approximately six or seven inches and had to be removed prior to commencing an upcoming mainline relining project. It was not cost-effective to excavate the main to remove this intrusion.
Use of a remote cutter & camera system was the key to successful removal and as the photos show, the intrusion was completely removed which will allow for a liner to be installed to extend the service life of this deteriorating main by 50+ years.
Watch video clips of Mar-Tech removing intruding laterals from a storm main without damaging the pipe itself.
