Relining

Mainline CIPP Lining

Pipe Sizes Possible: 4″ (100mm) to 96″ (2400mm)

The social impact of trenching can be great. Noisy equipment, inaccessible lanes and roadways for long periods of time as well as damage to property are only some of the issues that can occur during excavation work. When these issues or the cost of localized repairs near or exceed the cost of total rehabilitation, mainline relining from manhole to manhole is often the right way to go.

Mar-Tech utilizes a process where digging is not required, instead using steam or water to install a lining through the defective underground pipe. By inverting a resin impregnated liner directly into the defective pipe through the manhole, pipes can be rehabilitated, end-to-end without the need for excavation of any kind!

Our felt liner is “wet-out” with resin to the appropriate length for the pre-determined section of pipe to be rehabilitated. On site we install the liner using the Shooter™ which is utilized to invert the liner into the existing mainline. After the inversion of the liner, valving, pressure and temperature monitoring gauges are installed at both manholes and the liner is inflated. Pressure is held for a few minutes to stabilize and assure all connections are secure.

Steam is then applied to activate the catalysts within the resin and cure the pipe in place (CIPP). After a few hours and once the cure time is achieved the ends are cut.

Laterals such as catch-basin leads in surface water pipes and house connections for sanitary lines are reinstated as required using a remote lateral cutter which cuts a hole in the liner to re-open these sidelines quickly and easily.

Lastly, a final video-recorded inspection (called a Final TV or Final video) is conducted to ensure that proper rehabilitation has been achieved.

In most cases the entire process of relining the defective pipe, re-instating the lateral connections and conducting a final video is done in 8-10 hours if lateral reinstatement is needed and 4-6 hours if no laterals are present.

Mar-Tech Underground Services relining crews are a highly experienced team headed by a Project Manager with 25 years experience in all forms of trenchless rehabilitation.

You can be assured that with Mar-Tech you are in “good hands” when it comes to all your pipe rehabilitation needs.

Service Lateral Relining

Pipe Sizes Possible: 4″ (100mm) to 6″ (150mm) Inspection Chamber (IC) to main IC to House

It is now possible to stop infiltration at the interface of connections and, if necessary, up to 20 feet into the lateral with American Logiballs lateral packers. The lateral plug is inserted into the service (sewer) lateral and the mainline sleeve inflated, isolating the service connection and the first joint up the service connection.

CIPP Internal Point Repairs

Pipe Sizes Possible: 4″ (100mm) to 48″ (1200mm)

Mar-Tech Liner is a non-disruptive method for repairing localized structural problems in an otherwise sound pipe. Using a resin impregnated felt, this trenchless (without digging) point repair method rehabilitates damaged pipe with diameters from 100mm-1200mm. The result is a structurally sound, long lasting and economical alternative to other rehabilitation solutions.

Point repairs are generally completed within a few hours, with minimal disruption to the flow of the line. Access can be gained through the closest manhole where the impregnated felt “tube” is moved into place, using remotely controlled video equipment. When in position, the point repair is pressed tightly against the inside wall of the host pipe, and then cured in place.

Point repairs are most effective in sewers with localized structural defects, excess loading conditions, an offset joint, corrosion, or poor initial construction. Point repairs are a structural repair, and do not on their own solve infiltration problems throughout a sewer. Groundwater will simply find another location to enter the pipe. The only way to eliminate infiltration is to seal every joint in each mainline section. Grouting all joints in addition to point repairs for structural cracks and offset joints ensures years of useful life for your pipeline.
